Last week I built a phone app because I keep forgetting to drink water.
ADHD brains don’t register hunger, thirst, or fatigue until it’s an emergency. I’ve gone entire workdays without eating because nobody told me it was lunch.
So I built a set of meters that drain in real time. Hunger, thirst, energy, social, fun. Each one depletes at its own rate. Tap to reset. The bars shift from green to yellow to red.
The idea is simple. Your brain can’t feel the signals, so the app becomes the signal.
The widgets show your active meters right on the home screen so you don’t have to open the app. They’re not pretty yet, but they work.
It can also send notifications when a meter is getting low.
I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now. I still forget sometimes, but the meters catch me before it becomes an emergency. That’s enough.
